What is Reiki?

Reiki is a healing practice from Japan that engages a gentle, non-invasive flow of energy between the Practitioner and the client. This energetic exchange balances a client’s energy, promoting physical and/or emotional healing*. I’m a certified Reiki Practitioner and have been practicing Reiki for over 7 years. I work with standard Reiki protocols along with my intuition to discern locations in the body where Reiki may be needed most, and how to best help my client.

Why Should I Choose Reiki Healing?

Reiki will treat numerous physical maladies, emotional imbalances, mental disturbances, and spiritual afflictions. Reiki will also extend its healing energies to nurture your environment and strengthen your relationships.

Some specific benefits include:

  • Pain, stresses, and agitations that are associated with long-term suffering can benefit from cumulative Reiki treatments.
  • Reiki can be safely used in conjunction with all other conventional health practices.
  • The swiftness of Reiki’s healing properties has demonstrated that it is an effective first-aid
  • Reiki assists us in letting go of the aspects of our lives that negatively impact us.
  • Reiki can expedite the body’s natural healing ability reducing the recovery periods that follow surgeries and injuries.
  • Using Reiki may awaken or improve spiritual awareness.
  • Reiki releases toxins. clearing our bodies of impurities and stagnant energies.
  • Reiki will penetrate beyond obvious systematic conditions of the body and treat the underlying causes of illness.

How does energy medicine differ from Reiki?

Energy medicine is a term used by a variety of healers to describe the practice of healing and balancing the body’s chakras, meridians, and energy field through the direct manipulation of these areas. Some techniques include meridian tracing, acupressure, and moving the hands through the aura/energy field, or chakras.

Energy medicine differs from Reiki in that it is a “hands-on” method of interacting with the energetic body, while Reiki focuses on sending healing universal energy to the body’s physical and energetic systems to achieve healing and balance. The two therapies complement each other, and I work with both of them along with reflexology in my energy-healing work.

What can I expect in a healing session?

I provide a relaxing, soothing atmosphere for my healing sessions. Sessions begin with a short consultation or check-in (with returning clients) to assess needs before beginning treatment. The client remains fully dressed – I recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing in your session. The treatment consists of both hands-on and off-the-body, depending on the technique being used; clients can request a completely hands-off session if desired (unless reflexology is used). I use a comfortable massage table for clients to lie on, but a chair can be used instead upon request. Many clients report feeling warm or gentle tingling sensations in the area being worked on as well as an overall feeling of relaxation, but not everyone feels this which is ok – know that the Reiki and energy medicine are still working.

I use my client’s needs and intuition to inform how I move through a healing session. Every healing session with me is unique and tailored for each client. I use a combination of Reiki, energy medicine, crystal therapy, and reflexology to focus healing in the ways most needed by my client at the moment.
