What is Traditional Healing? Traditional Healing refers to practices that are far older than modern medicine and make use of the inborn human ability to heal through energy and direction of will, and/or using the healing nature of plants, stones, animals, and natural spaces. Some examples include Reiki, shamanistic practices (which vary between cultures), herbalism, Ayurveda, homeopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and more.

One thing all these practices have in common is that they are based on healing through natural practices. Humans have healed this way for thousands of years – it is only in the last 100 or so years that we have neglected our innate knowledge of healing with the energy and systems of the natural world.

Modern medicine can and should be an important part of our health care*, but it’s worth remembering that it really only offers a fix without addressing the underlying issues contributing to illness or injury. Practitioners of traditional healing recognize that illness and injury have an energetic foundation, and work with our patients to not just alleviate symptoms, but find out where the physical issue originated so it can be addressed at its root.

While recognizing the importance of modern medicine, it is also important to recognize the truth that the radical cost of modern treatments and insurance is rapidly becoming out of reach for many. It’s time to reclaim our own healing.

In my practice I specifically work with:

* Traditional healing should not be used in place of medical care, but as a companion to care. Consult your medical doctor before beginning any traditional healing work.
